On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor Both, in Indian Universities and Colleges. Till June 2018, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country. Since Dec 2018 onwards, the UGC- NET is being conducted by the NTA.
UGC NET 2020 Syllabus
Mode of Examination: The Examination shall be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) only.
Pattern: The test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple-choice questions.There will be no break between papers

All the questions are compulsory.
Paper- I: The questions in Paper I intend to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
Paper-II: This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge.

The Centres (Cities) where the Test shall be conducted are given at Annexure-I.
It is mandatory for candidates to select the States/Cities(any fourof their choice) while filling Online Application Formof UGC-NET June 2020. Effort will be made to allot Centre of examination to the candidates in order of the City choice opted by them in their Application Form. However, due to administrative reasons, a different city of nearby area may be allotted.
