Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Geologists Exam 2012 to be held from 01.12.2012 (SATURDAY). Duration of UPSC Geologists Exam is 3 days.

UPSC Geologists Exam 2012 is to be conducted for the Recruitment of following posts:

Category I: (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).

(i) Geologist, Group “A”

(ii) Assistant Geologist Grade-I (Group ‘B’)

Category II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)

(i) Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group “A”

(ii) Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group “B”

UPSC Geologists Exam Pattern/ Scheme 2012

Part IWritten examination -The question papers in all the subjects will be of Conventional (essay) type. The subjects of the written examination under Part I, the maximum marks allotted to each subject/paper and the time allowed shall be as follows:-

1) General English – 3 hrs. – 100 marks

2) Geology Paper I – 3 hrs. – 200 marks

3) Geology Paper II – 3 hrs. – 200 marks

4) Geology Paper III – 3 hrs. – 200 marks

5) Hydrogeology – 3 hrs. – 200 marks

Note: – Candidates competing for posts under both Category I and Category II will be required to offer all the five subjects mentioned above.  Candidates competing for posts under Category I only will be required to offer subjects at (1) to (4) above and candidates competing for posts under Category II only will be required to offer subjects at (1) to (3) and (5) above.

Part II- Interview for personality Test of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks. The candidate will be interviewed by a Board of competent and unbiased observers who will have before them a record of his/ her career. The object of the interview is to assess his/her suitability for the posts for which he/she has competed.
